Monday Motivation - Intentionality and Purpose in Group Fitness Classes
Ariana struggles with ADHD, which makes it difficult for her to concentrate and switch her mind between tasks. If we don’t plan ahead, the mornings can be chaotic for her as she gets ready for school, trying to juggle what to wear and what snacks to pack. But every Sunday, she works with either Celesta or me to pick out her clothes and snacks for the week. This simple task of preparing ahead of time helps her approach each day with a sense of calm and confidence. She’s able to start her mornings without the usual frustration and stress.
Monday Motivation – The Power of a Promise
It's the first Monday in 2025, and most people are thinking about New Year's resolutions. As you know, New Year’s resolutions are often a bust—and I’m willing to bet you’ve experienced this firsthand. You start with a big goal, maybe “I’m going to work out every day” or “I’ll lose 20 pounds by spring,” and then... life happens. By February, you’re back to your old habits, feeling like you’ve let yourself down again.
Monday Motivation - Cherish the Season
This week, I challenge you to choose one meaningful way to connect with someone. Maybe it’s as easy as sharing a laugh over dinner or expressing gratitude for their support this year. If you need ideas, my book One Minute Fitness lists 30 ways to build relationships. You can order your copy by clicking the link or picking one up from the gym.
Let’s celebrate the relationships that bring us joy, strength, and love this holiday season.
Monday Motivation - Want to Quit?
But here’s the truth: those bad days are just part of the journey, not the destination. Success, whether in marriage, work, or fitness, is about showing up and staying the course.
When you want to quit -- and this applies to marriage, work, fitness, nutrition, parenting, etc. -- here are five actions you can take. You have complete control over these actions, so try them!
Monday (Tuesday) Motivation - Build Your Vision Board
A vision board is more than just a collection of images and quotes—it’s a daily reminder of your goals, your "why," and the life you’re working toward. Here’s how to get started: set your intentions
Monday Motivation - CrossFit South Central Affiliate Summit
Two weekends ago, I had the privilege of attending the CrossFit South Central Affiliate Summit. It was a full day of learning, connecting, and being inspired by some of the best minds in CrossFit.
We kicked off bright and early at 7 AM, and from that moment, the energy was contagious. From discussions on enhancing member experiences to live coaching demos and masterminding business growth strategies, every session was packed with insights I couldn’t wait to bring back to Blue Eagle Fitness & Nutrition.
Motivation Monday - Don’t Wait; Do It Now
Pick one thing you’ve been putting off and take the first step today. Send the text, make the call, join a CrossFit group fitness class, start personal training in Fulshear—whatever it is, do it now.
Motivation Monday - Our Words Improve Our Performance
Did you know you can control your destiny with the words you say to others and yourself? This is why I believe so strongly about positive affirmations. If giving yourself positive affirmations is too difficult or feels weird, then try them on your family or friends.

Monday Motivation - One "Hard" Thing
I listened to a podcast last week with a woman who seems to have mastered the art of balance. She’s built and sold multiple consulting businesses for millions, raised four kids, and even went to culinary school in her spare time. Impressive, right?
Monday Motivation - Finding Motivation When Feeling Depressed
There are seasons in life when life feels overwhelming, and it's hard to find the energy to do the things you know are good for you. Getting motivated when feeling depressed can seem impossible. But even on your hardest days, there's still hope, and I want to encourage you to take one small step toward feeling better.
Motivation Monday - Stories of Compassion in Our Community
On Saturday, August 17, at 9 AM, we will host a charity fundraiser for Family Hope Fulshear. At Blue Eagle Fitness & Nutrition, we believe in the power of giving back, and I am continually inspired by the amazing work being done by Family Hope. Their mission is simple yet profound: to serve our community with compassion and care.
Monday Motivation - Handling Stress
The past couple of weeks have been stressful for many of us. Hurricane Beryl caused about two million Houstonians to lose electricity (and our air conditioning). It also knocked down lots of trees and fences, which you may still be cutting up.
How to Prepare for a Hurricane in Fulshear, TX
Fulshear, TX, is 130 feet above sea level and approximately 60 miles from the Gulf Coast. Lots of advice you may find online about preparing for a hurricane applies to people living closer to the coast.
Motivation Monday - Conquer Your Mornings
Happy Monday, Blue Eagle!
Even though the lazy days of summer are here, we are still pretty busy. One of the best ways to have a fulfilling day among the busyness, is to start with a nutritious breakfast.
Breakfast Ideas
Here are some easy ideas:
Overnight oats with yogurt and berries
Monday Motivation - Be Better: Get a Coach
TwoBrain Summit
I spent this past weekend in Chicago at the TwoBrain Business Summit. I have two “heroes” in the gym ownership space: Chris Cooper and Ben Bergeron.
Chris Cooper
Chris Cooper started a business mentoring small-business owners, especially of gyms. I love Chris Cooper because of his mindset. He wrote a book called “Help First,” which is exactly what we try to do at Blue Eagle.
Ben Bergeron
Monday Motivation - Be Useful!
The picture is of my daughter, Ariana. I have three daughters: Kaeli (18), Avery (16), and Ariana (8). Kaeli loves to swim, Avery loves to play water polo, and Ariana loves to be eight years old. She loves to watch TV, play computer games, and (generally speaking) be useless.
Monday Motivation - Measure the Milestones
This weekend marked graduation weekend for my senior at Jordan High School. We had a great time celebrating her athletic, academic, and personal accomplishments over the past eighteen years. Plenty of her friends and adults who played a role in shaping the young woman she has become came to our house to celebrate. Celesta and I are very proud of Kaeli.
Motivation Monday - Progress Is Progress
There are ebbs and flows in life. Sometimes we are busy, especially this time of year. Kids are graduating college, high school, or maybe even kindergarten! Events are being celebrated, like dance recitals, musical performances, and spring sports championships.
Maybe you are out of your normal routine, or maybe you are looking to get into a new routine as summer approaches.
Monday Motivation - Some Days Are Bad Days
Some days are bad days. Of course, we prefer our days to be good or even great, but such is life.
In my chemistry career, every brand-new chemist would have a bad day about three months after starting in the laboratory. I would hear a glass flask or beaker fall and shatter. It's not a nig deal and is a part of working in a lab. But then, about an hour later, I would hear another glass flask or beaker shatter... And then a third sound of shattered glass.
