Monday Motivation - Handling Stress

Happy Monday, Blue Eagle!

Hurricane Beryl

The past couple of weeks have been stressful for many of us. Hurricane Beryl caused about two million Houstonians to lose electricity (and our air conditioning). It also knocked down lots of trees and fences, which you may still be cutting up.

Late last week, a glitch from a cyber security firm caused the blue screen of death upon millions of computers. People around the world were stranded due to canceled flights, employees were unable to work on their corporate computers, and consumer businesses like coffee shops were unable to process payments.

Handling Stress

How have you handled the stress that life sends your way?

One of the best reasons to do challenging workouts is for mental toughness. Mental toughness gives us mental peace when it seems the world is falling apart around us.

Think about today's workout. When you get off the rower, you need to grab your dumbbells to start the DB hang power cleans. Will you wait to grab the dumbbells? Will you hope the dumbbells magically get lighter? Will you give up?

Mental Toughness

No! You will keep going. You will keep going because making progress is more important than being perfect. You will keep going because you see the people next to you struggle as well and they are picking up their dumbbells. You will keep going because the only failure is quitting. And you don't quit.

You will get mentally tougher. So the next time your flight gets canceled, or your meal comes out of the kitchen cold, or a friend lets you down, you can handle the mental challenge without losing your patience.

Have a great week!
