Monday Motivation - Want to Quit?
Happy Monday, Blue Eagle!
Marriage Can Suck
Last week, my wife, Celesta, and I celebrated 26 years of marriage. Over the years, we’ve learned a lot about commitment, resilience, and the importance of choosing each other—even when life gets hard.
Every marriage has its bad days. There are times when you feel disconnected, when arguments seem endless, or when life’s stressors make you question everything. I talk about what marriage has been like and how Marriage Can Suck in last week's podcast.
Here’s the Truth
But here’s the truth: those bad days are just part of the journey, not the destination. Success, whether in marriage, work, or fitness, is about showing up and staying the course.
When you want to quit -- and this applies to marriage, work, fitness, nutrition, parenting, etc. -- here are five actions you can take. You have complete control over these actions, so try them!
How to Take Action
Show gratitude daily.
Appreciate even the small things. Nothing in life is 100 % perfect, nor is it 100 % awful. Find something about the person, company, or situation that is going well, and express gratitude for it. If you need help, read Chapter 10 of my book One Minute Fitness.
Remember your “why.”
You married the person, started a job, workout, or eat well for a reason. Reflect on those reasons.
Invest time in your spouse, work, family, or activity.
Often, spending quality time with a person or activity helps remind us why we made the initial decision to get started. If you need ideas on how to invest better in relationships, read Chapter 11 of my book One Minute Fitness.
Take responsibility.
Own your mistakes and work to make things right. Unless you are like me, you have probably made mistakes or been imperfect. In which case, make an apology and ask for forgiveness. (This bullet point is written just to see if my wife reads my emails. :) )
Commit to the journey.
Decide every day to keep choosing each other, even when it’s hard.
Whether it’s marriage, work, or fitness, the key is to keep going. Tough days don’t last, but the results of your resilience will. This week, take one step forward, even if it feels small. You’ve got this!
Reply to this email and share one thing you will commit to doing this week to strengthen your relationships. I would love to hear from you!
Here’s to a week of perseverance and growth.
