Actions are Better than Goals

What’s the best sports bra for me?
For transparency, this is Bryan writing this article after getting input from female coaches, female athletes, and reading multiple articles on the subject. Many women have asked my opinion about sports bras, especially women who are new to intense training like CrossFit. I am not claiming to be an expert; however, there are some general principles you should keep in mind whether you are male or female and whether you are doing CrossFit or something else.

Can I do CrossFit even if I am injured?
One of the common questions that we've gotten recently, in particular, has been, "Hey, I'm hurt. Should I still come and work out?" As you know, we have a wonderful, lovely athlete who broke her foot while surfing in Costa Rica, so she's now in a boot. What can she do, especially on a day like today which is deadlift day? The class is going to start with a run, deadlift, kettlebell swings, goblet squats, not really good for someone with a broken foot. So should she even bother coming?

3 Things to Consider When Searching for Your New Gym
You are busy. And you want to be fit. Whether it’s your spouse, kids, or work, you have life pulling you in all sorts of directions. But you are also looking in the mirror and wanting to look more toned. You want to wake up every morning without joint pain. And you want to have the energy to make it through the day. You know joining (and actually going!) to the gym should be your next step. What gym should you join?

The Top 4 Reasons your Nutrition Plan has Failed
You want to look better, feel better and even sleep better. You know that taking care of your nutrition is important. And you have tried. But it isn’t working… at least it doesn’t work for very long. Nothing you try seems to stick. AND YOU BLAME YOURSELF. You think that if you just had more willpower… if you just had more discipline… if you just cared more… you would be better.
Here’s the truth: It’s not your fault.

Sleep Opportunity
Lots of us struggle with getting enough sleep. Have you ever laid in bed, you're tossing and turning, that starts to stress you out and it becomes this never-ending cycle of stress, can't sleep, stress, can't sleep?
Instead of thinking about getting sleep, which we can't always control, think about sleep opportunity, Think about the time that you go to bed, lights are out, eyes are closed, and count that as the time that you're trying to sleep.

Why You Should Take Amino Acids
We lift weights and train to build bigger stronger muscles, but exactly how does the building process work? Resistance training triggers protein synthesis, a signal that tells our body to use proteins to construct new muscle tissue. Supplementing with BCAA’s during and after resistance training can increase the protein synthesis signaling, meaning more muscle growth! Even without resistance training BCAA’s can aid in the preservation of lean tissue and help prevent fat gain!

What to Eat Before You Exercise
Fueling correctly before your workout will help you perform better and recover quickly. Ideally, you want to have energy during the workout without feeling too full. Here’s how to achieve that ideal balance, whether you work out first thing in the morning, mid-day, or in the evening.

Body "Neutral" vs. Body "Positive"
Body neutrality is the philosophy that while we want our bodies to healthy, our looks do not define who we are. We are happy with what our bodies can do, how they perform, and that we only have one body so we should make the most of this opportunity.
The truth is that no one loves their body all the time. We have bad days. We have "fat" days. We have sluggish days.
And that's OK.
Because we strive for a sense of peace with our bodies.

How to Stay Healthy on the Road
It’s OK to take a break from working out when you’re on vacation. A little bit of R&R (rest and relaxation) are good for the soul. Plus the extra benefits of releasing stress makes vacations all the more worthwhile. However, we don’t have to give into a completely decadent lifestyle either. Every meal does not need to consist of potato chips, soda, and alcohol.

What are the Benefits of CrossFit Shoes?
There are very clear benefits of wearing shoes specific to CrossFit because we perform such a wide range of activities. CrossFit workouts consist of everything from sprints to heavy weightlifting and rope climbing to box jumps. It’s clear that a running shoe, or cheap workout shoe won’t stand up to this kind of test. That’s why you should consider a specialized Cross Fit shoe.

How to Become Sugar Savvy
If you’re having trouble meeting your nutrition, weight loss, or fitness goals -- or just generally feeling tired and run down -- you could be eating too much sugar.
When we talk about sugar, most people think of ice cream, cookies, or soda, but sugar lurks everywhere in processed, packaged food. Just because a product is labeled “organic,” “all-natural,” or “gluten-free,” doesn’t mean it’s healthy or “sugar-free”.
