The CrossFit Open Is Here!

This Saturday at 9 AM

The CrossFit Open season is upon us and starts this Saturday! The first workout was announced today (Thursday) at 2 PM. The second and third workouts will be announced next Thursday (March 7) and March 15, respectively.

Here is the plan for Saturday. We will run several heats depending on the total number of people. Coaches will lead everyone through a warm-up at 9 AM that will take about 20 minutes. Our first heat will start at 9:30 AM.

The workout has a 15 minute time cap. We will run heats every 20 minutes.

It is perfectly OK to arrive a little late because we will run multiple heats.

Important note: When you first arrive, please sign-up for the heat of your workout.

Please Warm-up

The warm-up will be written on the whiteboard for you to follow. A best practice is to warm-up in the heat prior to the heat you have signed up for. For example, you should warm-up during heat #2 if you are scheduled to workout in heat #3.

The workout is two non-technical movements so warming up for 15 minutes will be sufficient for most of us.

Judging

Every athlete will have a judge. If you’ve never worked out with a judge, don’t be nervous! Your judge will be responsible for counting your reps and making sure you’re doing the right movement in the right order. They do all the thinking, which allows you to just workout.

You may be asked to judge. We have several athletes who have registered with CrossFit, Inc. to post an official score. You can register by clicking here (Register for the CrossFit Open). Registration is not required to do the workout. For those who are registered, you will have an official judge. For those who are not registered, your judge will be a Blue Eagle athlete.

A best practice is to judge in heats besides the one you are scheduled to workout and the heat prior. You will be warming up in the heat prior. :)

Wear Team Colors

If you are reading this email, you are on a team. Your team has a color. I am on “Team Gold.” I will wear a gold(ish) workout shirt on Saturday morning. The other teams are Team Blue and Team Red. Wear your team colors to gain points!

Read the blog below “What Is The CrossFit Open?” to see which team you are on.

The best ways to earn points are to show up, do the workout, and wear your team colors!
