What is the CrossFit Community Cup?
Following the CrossFit Open, the CrossFit Community Cup will take place. Read more about the CrossFit Open at Blue Eagle here:
The Community Cup is a virtual competition held in CrossFit affiliates worldwide. Registration opens May 12, 2025, and the event runs from June 9-15. Participants will complete three workouts, which can be done in any order within the week.
To participate, athletes must have completed all three Open workouts and submitted their scores by the deadline.
Why Did CrossFit Add This Event?
Since the introduction of Quarterfinals in 2021, the second stage of competition has catered to the top 10-25% of Open participants. While this expanded opportunity was embraced, it left out a large portion of athletes eager to test their progress.
The Community Cup was created for everyone, regardless of skill level, providing a fresh chance to compete and celebrate fitness. It’s about focusing on the best parts of competition — camaraderie, growth, and fun — without the pressure of Games qualification.
What About the Quarterfinals?
CrossFit didn’t remove opportunities to compete; it expanded them. Now, instead of a small group advancing to Quarterfinals, the Community Cup welcomes all athletes who complete the Open, providing over 260,000 people the chance to compete on a global stage.
You’ll still see your Open placement on the leaderboard and track progress, but the Community Cup adds an even playing field through tiers based on your Open results, giving a clearer picture of your performance.
Why Should I Participate?
The Community Cup offers athletes of all abilities a meaningful competition experience. Unlike the Open, which compares you to everyone worldwide, the Community Cup groups athletes into tiers based on their Open performance.
This creates fair, achievable challenges for all participants — from elite competitors to beginners. It’s not just about the leaderboard; it’s about pushing limits, celebrating progress, and strengthening bonds within your gym community. Think of it as the CrossFit Affiliate Games, where every rep and every moment matters.
Why Is There an Additional Fee?
The Community Cup is a separate event from the Open, just like a 10K race is different from a marathon. Each event has its own entry fee, allowing you to choose whether to participate in just one or both. Despite this, CrossFit’s competitions remain more affordable than most sporting events.
Can I Participate If I Didn’t Do the Open?
No. Completing all three Open workouts and submitting scores is required to qualify for the Community Cup. Your performance in the Open determines your level for the Community Cup.
What Are Levels?
Levels ensure fair competition by grouping athletes of similar ability. Based on Open results, participants are assigned a level displayed on their athlete profile. Athletes then compete within their tier for the Community Cup.
How Do I Find My Level?
After the Open leaderboard finalizes, levels will appear on athlete profiles. CrossFit will send invitations to athletes at each tier. Once invited, you’ll need to register for your specific tier before the score submission window closes.
How Many Workouts Are There?
The Community Cup features three workouts, all released on Monday, June 9, at 12 p.m. PT. Scores for all workouts must be submitted by Sunday, June 15, at 5 p.m. PT.
Each workout will have modifications tailored to challenge athletes within their respective tiers.
Why Your Gym Needs the Community Cup
The Community Cup is an exciting opportunity to energize your gym, challenge your members, and deepen connections within your affiliate. It’s a chance for everyone to test their fitness, celebrate progress, and experience the joy of shared effort.
Encourage your members to register and take part in this incredible event. Together, let’s push limits, foster community, and grow stronger!
