Forgive yourself. Keep moving forward

Happy Monday, Blue Eagle!

My 15-year-old daughter had her end-of-season water polo tournament this weekend in Dallas. Her coach is a former Olympic water polo player and still represents the USA in the over-35 water polo tournaments all over the world.

Her #1 most important piece of advice is mental: get over your mistakes quickly and move on!

How often have you seen a player make a mistake and then immediately get down on themselves? They allow the one bad play to haunt them for a few plays or even the rest of the game.

When I was a kid, I was very hard on myself for making mistakes. But my mindset changed when I saw John Stockton of the Utah Jazz play a game against David Robinson's San Antonio Spurs. On the Jazz's first possession, John Stockton dribbled the ball off his foot. Stockton is in the Hall of Fame, and he made such a careless mistake.

Instead of beating himself up, he grabbed the basketball and kept playing. He never let this one mistake haunt him. I was amazed.

Life is not perfect. We are not perfect. We will make mistakes.

Today's motivation is to accept that you will make mistakes, forgive yourself, and keep moving forward!

Have a great week!
