CATERING FROM HOLY SMOKIN’ BARBECUE

Our first 2021 CrossFit Open workout will start at 5:30 PM, so please arrive 20-30 minutes earlier to warm-up. If you are running late, then NO WORRIES! There will be multiple heats and plenty of opportunities for you to work out, too. :) Now for the big announcement (dum, da, de dum… We will have our event catered by Holy Smokin’ Barbecue starting at 6:45 PM. Please visit their website or their Facebook page to learn more about Joshua and his wonderful company.

When will we do the workouts?

  • Friday, March 12, we will have a limited class schedule: 6 AM, 8:30 AM, and 12 PM. (The 5 AM and evening classes will be canceled.) We will do the CrossFit Open workout during these class times. Of course, we encourage participants to attend Friday Night Lights starts at 5:30 PM.

  • We recognize not everyone can attend our special events on Sunday, March 21, and Saturday, March 27. To accommodate people who still want to do the Open workout, we will have a single session on Friday, March 19 at 1:30 PM (where we will perform CrossFit Open 21.2), and on Friday, March 26 at 1:30 PM (where we will perform CrossFit Open 21.3).

  • Friday, April 2 will have regularly-scheduled classes with Blue Eagle programming. Though we HIGHLY ENCOURAGE everyone to attend our final FNL at 5:30 PM to celebrate our efforts.

What is the CrossFit Open?

The CrossFit Open unites hundreds of thousands of athletes around the world to compete in the world's largest participatory sporting event in history.  The world’s largest participatory sporting event will include four options for athletes: Prescribed, Scaled, Foundations, and No-Equipment.  With the four different options, everyone (and I mean EVERYONE) will be able to get a great workout.  This is the perfect time to invite friends and family to try CrossFit.  It’s also the perfect time to test yourself.

How does it work?

Over the course of four weeks starting in March, we will celebrate our fitness, push our limits, and compete with one another in a fun intramural sport.  Each weekend will be a party:

  • Friday, March 12 at 5:30 PM

  • Sunday, March 21 at 2 PM

  • Saturday, March 27 at 9 AM

  • Friday, April 2 at 5:30 PM

Every one of us has our personal “why”.  Each person’s “why” — is unique and personal… to be healthier... to live longer... to support your gym…  to set a model for your kids... to engage in a friendly competition with a friend... to raise a personal record... to push through exhaustion... to finish. :)

CrossFit.com will provide the workouts for the first three weeks.  For week FOUR, we will have a special team relay race

There will be four teams:

  • 5 & 6 AM classes (Coach Farah)

  • 830 AM & 12 Noon classes (Coach Bryan)

  • 430, 530, 630 PM classes (Coach Bruce)

  • Forever Fit (Coach Clancie)

Points will be awarded every week as follows:

  • Athletes participating in ANY workout (1 pt)

  • Athletes placing in the Top 3 within each division (3 pts)

  • Winning the Spirit of Blue Eagle award (5 pts)

  • Athletes bringing friends and family who participate in ANY workout (1 pt)

The winning team will be announced on Friday, April 2.

CrossFit Open Nutrition

There can be a lot of misconceptions about how to eat in preparation for the CrossFit Open. Here are a few things to keep in mind:

  • Drink plenty of water throughout the week

  • Make sleep a greater priority than usual

  • Carb-loading is not helpful
